Crystal Gayle and Sandy Mason at the Bluebird Cafe.

Crystal supports Songwriter and Friend, Sandy Mason

(02/19/2009) - Standing Room Only Crowd Packed the Bluebird Café for the Sandy Mason Showcase.

Sandy Mason, award-winning singer/songwriter, worked her magic last night on an enthusiastic crowd at Nashville’s most beloved musical venues, the Bluebird Café. Sandy performed songs from her latest album, Out There And In Here as well as one of her best-loved hits, “Two Pina Coladas,” which reached #1 in 1998 for Garth Brooks.

The evening was topped off with a surprise performance by country legend and one of Sandy’s good friends, Crystal Gayle. A captivating audience listened as Crystal sang “When I Dream,” a song that was written by Sandy and was first recorded by Crystal in ‘78. “Sandy is such a wonderful friend,” said Crystal. “When I first heard this song, knowing Sandy, it was such a special song. I always say that she went into her heart when she wrote this.”

Much laughter and even moments of tears completed what Sandy called, “The best show in town!” “It’s always a pleasure to have those wonderful musicians with me…and the crowd was into it, feeling the songs with me.”

Much feedback was received after the show, including a couple traveling from Michigan to Florida. They pulled her aside to tell her they stopped into the Bluebird for the first time and to the couple’s delight, Sandy’s show was the best they had ever seen.

“I was happy before I walked in and now I’m even happier.” - Becky Hobbs, Gifted Singer/Songwriter and Honky Tonkin' Piano Player (penned hits for Alabama, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Conway Twitty, John Anderson, Glen Campbell, etc.)

“Sandy’s music is between The Beatles and George Gershwin.”

Roger Cook, Prolific songwriter (penned hits for Elton John, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Bing Crosby, Crystal Gayle, Brenda Lee, Neil Diamond, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Frankie Valli, etc.)

“Sandy’s songs are so wonderful!”

Jay Patton, Crystal Gayle’s long time band director and master sax player (Musician on cuts for Dobie Gray, Crystal Gayle and John Conlee)

“I always loved Sandy’s songs and I absolutely love her ventriloquism work. She should be working with Pixar Pictures.”
Steve Popovich, Cleveland International Records
